
AIA People Awards
The AIA People Awards were established to recognize those who have made extraordinary contributions to the Automotive Aftermarket Community. The Awards recognize individuals in four categories:
Members of the aftermarket community make nominations for the awards, and judging for the awards is performed by a panel of industry experts, chosen by the AIA board.
The 2008 AIA People Awards were presented at the November 5, 2008, AIA Luncheon and Awards Program in Las Vegas. The awards were presented by Anthony (Tony) Perticari (CARDONE Industries, Inc.).
AIA Young Executive of the Year Award
In 2008, the Young Executive Award was presented to Dan Bouchey.
The Auto International Association honors this outstanding young executive in the import automotive industry for his/her dedication, enthusiasm, and accomplishments. This award recognizes leadership and integrity for those executives less than 40 years of age.
- An individual must meet or exceed all of the following requirements to be considered for the AIA Person of the Year honor.
AIA Lifetime Achievement Award
In 2008, the AIA Lifetime Industry Achievement Award was presented to Daniel J. Lewis.
The AIA Lifetime Industry Achievement award honors individuals of outstanding performance integrity, dignity and conscientious approach to business affairs demonstrated as a matter of routine. Not intended to honor principals of high visibility or popularity, the Lifetime Industry Achievement award has been referenced as a means by which the "worker bees" or "people in the trenches" are credited and properly recognized.
- The candidate is and/or has been involved in the import parts segment of the aftermarket for a minimum of 10 years.
- The candidate must have made significant contributions to his/her company (can be his/her employer), which contributions have a positive influence and benefit to the stature and progress of the aftermarket industry.
- The candidate must be known as one whose character and integrity are beyond reproach and admired.
- The candidate must be at least 30 years of age.
Barry Breslow AIA Person of the Year Award
In 2008, the Person of the Year Award was presented to Brian Cohn.
The Barry Breslow AIA Person of the Year award honors an individual for his or her outstanding contributions to the industry and to the Auto International Association during the past 12-month period preceding the selection of the current year's award recipient. There shall be no more than one individual per year honored as the AIA Person of the Year.
An individual must meet or exceed all of the following requirements to be considered for the AIA Person of the Year honor.
- The candidate must be from within the import industry sector and shall not be employed in the field of public relations nor be deemed a "public relations person."
- An individual can win the award more then one time, provided the person qualifies for a second nomination by virtue of the aforementioned provisions. A period of 5 years must elapse before an individual can be nominated for a second or subsequent Person of the Year award.
- An individual should not be considered for the Person of the Year honors for historical industry contributions, as provided for in the AIA Hall of Fame criteria: The individual's performance during the preceding 12-month period is to be considered by the committee.
- A candidate cannot be a member of the Achievement Awards Committee.
AIA Hall of Fame Award
In 2008, entry to the AIA Hall of Fame was given to E.P. (Ed) Lynch.
The AIA Hall of Fame award is intended to honor outstanding individuals in the import automotive industry whose creativity, dignity, integrity, industriousness and accomplishments have enhanced the stature of, and significantly contributed to, the import industry segment and its overall growth and progress.
To be considered for the AIA Hall of Fame, a Candidate must meet all of the following requirements:
- His/her contributions are in accordance with "Purpose" above and must reach beyond the local level.
- The candidate is and/or has been involved in the industry and/or the Auto international Association for at least 10 years.
- The candidate must have made significant contributions toward enhancing technology, professionalism, dignity and/or the general stature and growth of the import parts industry sector.
- The candidate has performed in industry affairs with integrity.
- The candidate must be at least 40 years of age.
